As we pass through small fishing villages, secluded beaches, flourishing mangroves, and exotic landscapes, you’ll experience the thrill of kiting in one of the world’s most reliable wind destinations. From July to January, the coast is blessed with daily winds blowing between 20 to 35 knots, making this the ultimate destination for a downwind kite safari.
Our expert guides will take you to the most stunning kitespots between Jericoacoara & Atins, where you’ll enjoy endless kite sessions paired with breathtaking sunsets. You’ll kite along impressive sand dunes, crystal-clear lagoons, and lush mangroves – each stop offering a unique and unforgettable experience. That’s why we include two-day stops at three locations: Barra Grande, Tutóia, and Atins. This allows you to fully enjoy these extraordinary kitespots, take time to recharge, and make any necessary equipment repairs.
To join this adventure, you’ll need an advanced to expert kite level. You should have experience with downwinders, wave riding, perfect kite and board control, the ability to sail toe side, do down loops and self rescue. The downwinders are between 30km and 120km per day, with various kite spots at every stop. We have strategically chosen the best pousadas for you to relax and recharge with a delicious Brazilian meal. You’ll start every day with an extensive and healthy breakfast featuring lots of local fresh fruits, so you’ll have plenty of energy for your next kite session.

Day 1: Arrival in Jericoacoara
Upon your arrival in the charming coastal town of Jericoacoara, you’ll have the opportunity to settle into your accommodation, soak in the laid-back atmosphere, and prepare for the upcoming kite adventure.
Day 2: Downwind Jericoacoara to Tatajuba
Your adventure begins with an exciting downwind kite journey from Jericoacoara to Tatajuba. The pristine beaches and warm waters of this region create the perfect setting for kiteboarding enthusiasts.
Day 3: Downwind Tatajuba to Maceió
Continue your downwind journey as you head towards Maceió. You’ll encounter a variety of coastal landscapes, from remote dunes to lush mangrove forests, making each day of kiting a unique experience.
Day 4: Downwind Maceió to Barra Grande
Today’s destination is Barra Grande, a tranquil village known for its stunning natural beauty and excellent kiting conditions. The downwind journey will take you along the coast, with the wind as your constant companion.
Day 5: Kite at Barra Grande / Macapá
Take a break from your downwind adventure to enjoy a day of kiteboarding in Barra Grande or nearby Macapá. These kite spots are known for their ideal wind conditions and crystal-clear waters.
Day 6: Downwind Barra Grande to Delta do Parnaíba
Embark on the next leg of your journey, taking you from Barra Grande to the Delta do Parnaíba. This vast delta system is a haven for wildlife and offers a unique landscape for kiteboarding.
Day 7: Downwind Ilha dos Poldos to Ilha do Caju to Tutóia
Kite your way through the captivating Ilha dos Poldos and Ilha do Caju before reaching Tutóia. This section of the trip allows you to explore islands and their natural beauty.

Day 8: Downwind to Amor do Arpoador or Relaxation Day in Tutóia
You have the option to continue your downwind journey towards Amor do Arpoador or take a well-deserved rest day in Tutóia. This flexible schedule allows for relaxation and exploration as desired.
Day 9: Downwind Tutóia to Atins
The final stretch of your adventure takes you from Tutóia to the beautiful coastal village of Atins, with picturesque landscapes and excellent kiteboarding opportunities.
Day 10: Downwind Atins to Lençóis Maranhenses National Park +
Kite at Pininga Lagoon
On your last day of downwind kiting, you’ll head towards the renowned Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Here, you can enjoy a kite session at the stunning Pininga Lagoon, surrounded by breathtaking sand dunes and crystal-clear waters.
Day 11: Transfer from Atins to Jericoacoara
Conclude your incredible kite trip with a transfer back to Jericoacoara, where you can reminisce about the fantastic experiences and adventures you’ve had along the way.

The trip was perfectly organized by Marcel and his local guides, and we had a fantastic time in a small, friendly group. Marcel’s attention to detail made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.
We kited through stunning sea, river beds, and lagoons, and stayed in beautiful pousadas along the way. The landscapes were breathtaking, and the opportunity to connect with nature was incredible.

What an incredible experience! Kitesurfing in the most impressive sights of nature, being challenged by wind and waves, further developing kite- and downwind skills, finding the remotest beaches, sharing this with a divers group of adventurous people and all of this without a sticky wetsuit. IN 2023 my first time in Brazil, and I immediately did the entire downwinder from Jeri to Atins. What an experience! Arriving every day at a new place, very cool accommodations, great places for kiting and the occasional caipirinha with a amazing group of people. Cocokite really makes it a party!
